How to become an Architect?Aspiring candidates have to follow the given steps to become an Architect.
After completing 10th class aspiring candidate can appear in the entrance test conducted by the Technical Education Boards of various State Governments and selected candidates are admitted in Diploma in Architect course of the Diploma colleges (Polytechnics) according to the rank in the entrance exam. In the State of Haryana, Diploma Entrance Test (DET) is taken to admit the students in its Diploma Architect colleges. This exam is generally held in the month of May-June and consists of Objective type questions on the subject of English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Aptitude.
Alternatively, 12 class pass candidates can take Engineering Entrance Exams like JEE to Join Bachelors in Architect courses in reputed Architect Colleges of India.
After completing this three years of Diploma course one can either join some job of Assistant Architect or can compete to get admission in the second year of a degree in Architect course which is provided by some of the regional engineering/Architect collages of the state. OR One can complete its Architect studies through AMIE (Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers) - An alternate option for getting an Architect degree.
AMIE introduce non-formal engineering/Architect education Programme, successful completion of which is recognised as equivalent to a degree in engineering/Architect by the government of India, the union public service commission, state governments and public/ private sector organizations.
After successful completion of the degree course and required internship, the candidate is ready to join Government, Semi Government or Privates sector as Assistant Architect. As another option one can opt of higher qualification as Master in Architect followed by PhD and can go form research work or for academics. It all depends upon once priorities in their life.

Architects job involves designing new buildings, bridges, roads etc and extensions or alterations to existing buildings. But they are suitably compensated by other perks and allowances in addition to housing facilities, medical expenses as well as free/concessional air passages for their immediate family members and dependents (as LTC) above all the status attached with the Government sector posts.
