Raigad Military School is the brainchild of veteran freedom fighters like Shri. Nanasaheb Purohit and Shri. Prabhakar Kunte of Raigad District, Maharashtra. The first Raigad Military School was established on 12th August 1990 at Achaloli village in Taluka Mahad of Raigad District. This School is situated at the foot of historic Raigad Fort which was the Capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The school has, during short span, become synonymous with VISION, DEDICATION, EXCELLENCE AND COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL VALUES. Opening of Raigad Military School in Oshiwara, Mumbai was another important step. The Government of Maharashtra allotted a plot of 11000sq meters of land at Oshiwara, Mumbai which led to the commencement of Raigad Military School, Oshiwara, in 2005.

After Late Shri. Nanasaheb Purohit gathered the prominent freedom fighters and other social workers of Raigad District, they all were looking for a prominent personality who can help them in acquiring land for Raigad Military School and can arrange funds for the proposed School. Therefore, Late Shri. Nanasaheb Purohit and others approached Shri. Prabhakar Kunte who was then the President of MHADA. He was also been Housing Minister, Govt. of Maharashtra and then Chairman of Khadi Gramodyog Board. He was a very influential personality. When Nanasaheb Purohit and other freedom fighters along with social workers approached and told him about the proposed Raigad Military School. Shri. Prabhakar Kunte was very much impressed and was interested to be part of Raigad Military School. All of them welcomed him as the Chairman of Raigad Military School Trust. With all the herculean efforts of Shri. Prabhakar Kunte, the Maharashtra Govt. allotted a piece of land to the R.M.S Trust for educational purpose at a concessional rate.
