Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Pratishthan's College of Engineering is established in 1990 by Late Shri. Manohar (Mama) Phalke with the grace of Late Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Governor of Rajasthan. The college is spread over a total area of 7.34 acres of land, out of which 4 acres is for playground. It is located in the heart of Mumbai city, on Eastern Express Highway and closely connected with central and harbour line train stations.

The College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra and affiliated to University of Mumbai to conduct degree courses in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Information Technology.

Institute is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 3 years w.e.f. March 15, 2012. Institute is honored with 2nd rank among the Mumbai Colleges by Higher Education Review and Ranked 9th in the "Top 20 Engineering Colleges in India with Excellent Industry Exposure" in 2017.The Library of Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Pratishtan's College of Engineering was established in 1990, the same year when the college came into being. The library is located on the first floor of the A wing building of the college. Mrs. Varsha Dange served as the first librarian of the college library from year 1991.

The library which started with an initial collection of 1000 books has now grown up to a rich collection of 32824 books and 754 bound volumes of National and International periodicals. Having established a user-friendly environment in the library, the present library team manages the library with prompt and effective, online & offline library services.
