The K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering was established in 1983 at Somaiya Vidyavihar, and affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

It offers 4 year bachelor's degree courses in the departments of Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. KJSCE is an Autonomous college affiliated to the University of Mumbai spread across approx. 65 acres of posh land and stands among the top 3 engineering colleges in Mumbai. It is also one of the only 5 autonomous engineering colleges in Mumbai the others being VJTI, SP, DJ and Thakur. Upon recommendations of UGC and the State Government, University of Mumbai has conferred Autonomous Status to our college from Academic year 2014-15, whereby the College will award Degree on behalf of University of Mumbai.

KJSCE has been Awarded 'A' Grade by The "NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION COUNCIL" (NAAC) From May 2017. KJSCE is ranked 182 by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2019) MHRD, Government of India.
