Overview

Tata STRIVE is a prominent Skill Development programme governed by the Tata Community Initiatives Trust (TCIT), which was established in October 2014 as a public charitable trust by Tata Sons Private Limited. Currently, Tata STRIVE operates under the auspices of the Tata Trusts and is overseen by a Board of Trustees.

To equip aspirants for employment, entrepreneurship, or community enterprise, focusing on the disadvantaged, while strengthening the overall skill development ecosystem.

Suprakash Mukhopadhyay joined Tata Sons from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he held the role of Global Treasury Head and Company Secretary. He began his journey in the Tata group in 1988 at Tata Steel’s Jharia Division and moved to Tata Sons in 2000, later transitioning to TCS in 2008. Over his 12 years at Tata Steel, he gained experience in various departments, including Cost and Management Accounting, Export Accounting, and Corporate Secretarial functions. At Tata Financial Services, he was responsible for the Treasury function and played a crucial role in TCS’s initial public offering. He holds qualifications as a Cost & Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant, and Company Secretary, along with a B.Com (Hons) degree from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Roopa Purushothaman serves as the chief economist and head of policy advocacy at Tata Sons. In her capacity, she leads macroeconomic research and policy initiatives for the Tata group. Before joining Tata Sons, she worked at Everstone Capital, leading their research function, and served as vice president and global economist at Goldman Sachs International. Purushothaman has published significant research on various topics, including pioneering studies on BRIC nations. She is a Yale University graduate and holds a postgraduate degree from the London School of Economics. Additionally, she is the founder of the Avasara Leadership Institute, a nonprofit aimed at enhancing academic and leadership outcomes for high-potential adolescent girls in India.

Intent: Enhancing Employability

Tata STRIVE aims to provide comprehensive training that helps students transition smoothly into the workforce. The curriculum not only emphasizes domain-specific skills but also incorporates essential soft skills such as grit, determination, a growth mindset, and effective communication. Additionally, it includes fungible skills like financial literacy and critical reasoning. Collectively known as the "Youth Development Programme," these modules are delivered through activity-based or experiential learning, enhancing their effectiveness.
