What is XAT Exam?

XAT - The Xavier Aptitude Test is a national level aptitude test conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur. The scores of the XAT will be used for admissions by XLRI Jamshedpur and other Xavier Associate Management Institutes and over 150+ B-schools across the country. XAT 2020 exam is conducted on 5th January 2020.

The XAT is a national level test conducted by the XLRI to select the most appropriate candidates for management education from all over the country.

The institute has expertise in setting up the exam and then selecting the best candidates for management studies. There are several other institutes which consider XAT scores for their selection procedure.

There are 150+ management institutes which use XAT scores for their admission process. The XAT is a three-hour long exam and it is the preliminary step towards applying to XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes. Applicants applying to XAT Associate Institutes, besides XLRI have to apply separately according to their choice.

It is a computer-based test and the questions are based on Verbal and Logical Ability (VA & LR), Decision Making (DM), Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (QA & DI), and General Knowledge (GK). The biggest change for this year is there will be no Essay Writing section for XAT 2020.

The candidates who have planned to join any of XAT Associate Institutes have to follow the steps given below:

  • Register for XAT 2020 at http://www.xatonline.in and make XAT payment
  • Candidates interested in applying to XLRI and other XAT Associate Institutes may obtain details from the respective institute's website. Check their registration/application procedure
  • Candidates may please note that XLRI does not ascertain the quality of the degree or programmes offered by XAT Associate Institutes.
  • Each institute independently decides the weightage be given for each of the test components on the basis of its needs. XLRI does not play any role in the selection of the candidates in these institutes


    • XAT Exam Analysis 2020

    The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) exam analysis is the most important thing candidates should consider while preparing for this computer-based examination. The exam analysis will provide the key details such as weightage of the sections and important topics that should be covered first. The organisers of XAT eliminated the essay-writing section from this year.

    The XAT 2020 exam is tough compared to previous years. The verbal and logical ability sections consist of 26 questions.
