B. K. Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Kalyan a multi-faculty premier institution of higher learning, with an enrolment of 13,000+ students (8,700+ students in UG, PG and Research Programmes and 4,400 in Junior College) is affiliated to the University of Mumbai (UoM). The College was established in 1972, by Kalyan Citizens’ Education Society with the blessings of Pujya Shri B. K. Birla ji and Pujya Smt. Sarala ji Birla.

The College is spread over 20 acres of land (including B. K. Birla Public School) in the prime location of Kalyan city. The college has 72 classrooms with ICT facility, with 50% being smart classrooms and one 3D studio. The College has taken several initiatives towards green campus including the facility of ETP, STP and Rainwater Harvesting. The College has a well-equipped Central Library (Green Library) with IT infrastructure. The Chairman and Faculty members have sponsored 25 new cycles to the needy students as a green initiative during the current year.

The New Building (55,000 sq. ft.) has been added to provide new Science Labs and Classrooms. The College offers 33 UG, 34 PG courses and 09 Ph.D. programs. The College also conducts PG Diploma in Bio-nanotechnology, PG Diploma in Global Education and A-DMLT Courses.

The College has recently introduced new aged study programmes like B. VOC in 4 subjects M.Sc. (Data Science and Big Data Analytics), M.Sc. (Finance), M.Sc. (Artificial Intelligence), M.Sc. (Food Science and Nutraceuticals) and B.M.S. in Retail Management in association with Maruti Suzuki Pvt. Ltd. from the Academic Year 2022-23.

The UGC has sanctioned a Community College for Diploma in Accounting and Taxation in 2015-16.

The College has been reaccredited (4th Cycle) by NAAC and awarded ‘A++’ Grade with CGPA 3.51 (2024 -2031).

K. Birla ji and Pujya Smt. Sarala ji Birla..

The College is affiliated to the University of Mumbai (UoM) with student strength of over 8,700+ students. The College currently offers 34 UG, 33 PG and 09 Ph.D. programs which is combination of conventional and need based innovative programmes

Research is an integral part of teaching. B. K. Birla College believes in exposing students to the cutting-edge research. Presently 24 faculty members are Ph.D. Guides. Many faculty members have received funding from various agencies to complete Major and Minor Research Projects. The total number of publications in last five years are 113 in UGC Care and Peer Reviewed Journals. Current era is of IPR. The faculty members from the College have contributed for 47 Patents (30 granted and 17 Published).

The College has a spacious eco-friendly campus which is spread over 20 acres of land (including B. K. Birla Public School) in the prime location of Kalyan city. Starting with only one building in 1972 college has witnessed rigorous growth in infrastructural facility. Currently, the college has 2,14,887 sq. ft. of built-up area available including 72 classrooms with ICT facility, with 50% being smart classrooms and one 3D studio. New Building with an area of 55,000 sq. ft. has been added recently from 19th October, 2022 to provide best of the facility to the Science Departments.

The curriculum offered by the college has been meticulously designed to involve, inspire and inculcate students with the necessary skills to flourish in the dynamic world. BKBCK is committed to fostering a dynamic teaching and learning environment that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth. The institution’s Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation Policy shall stand as a testament to dedication to educational excellence, innovation, and the holistic development of students. Our examination results stand as a testimony to the continuously improving academic standards of the institute. Apart from academics, our students have also represented the college at National and International Level and brought laurels in sports. To enhance the proficiency of the students, the college has introduced numerous skill-based certificate courses. The college aims to enhance students abilities in English language proficiency, critical thinking, reflection, ethical behavior, and informed decision-making, preparing them for life and work challenges

The College celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year from 17th June, 2021 to 16th June, 2022. On this occasion, a Postal Stamp was released with the College logo and photo of Pujya Shri B. K. Birla ji by the Department of Posts, Government of India, at the hands of Shri Bhagat Singh ji Koshyari, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra State and Chancellor of all the Universities in Maharashtra State and Padma Bhushan Smt. Rajashree ji Birla, our Chief Patron.

We are also privileged to have Shri O. R. Chitlange, Chief Executive Officer, Grasim Industries Ltd. (VFY- Fashion Yarn Business), Mumbai as the Chairman of our Governing Council at B. K. Birla College. He has been a guiding force, motivating all of us to progress by leaps and bounds towards achieving greater heights of excellence. Other Academic Programmes

Celebration of Festivals and Annual Day

Cultural programs, class presentations, celebration of festivals, exhibition and fun-filled games are organized regularly at B.K. Birla Public School. These are creatively designed, encouraging the maximum participation of children and parents.

Educational and Recreational outings- where learning meets fun

Field-trips, fun-trips and educational outings are organized periodically for students of B.K. Birla Public School to learn beyond classroom. We try to provide a first-hand exposure that supplements what is taught in the classroom.

Inspiration and Guidance from Guest Speakers

We invite experts in various fields to organize seminars, lectures, counseling sessions and personality development workshops for our students. It helps them to grow as a complete human-being ready to face life.

Participation in Olympiads and National Scholarship Exams

Students are motivated to participate in various graded examinations like Olympiads, Mental Aptitude test, ASSET examinations, Homi Bhabha Scholarship exams, NTSE etc to improve their skills. Students have qualified various levels and brought laurels for the school.

Collaborations

Collaborations with ASSET, Helen O Grady Drama Academy, IPA Pearls Wisdom for Abacus, Trinity College of London, MindSpark , Orange planet, Khagolmandal sky observation programme further add to the academic rigour of the school.

Establishing global connections

Students learn through collaborative projects and sessions with students of other schools of various countries through Skype sessions, emails and surveys thus enabling rich cultural exchange.
